Choir 1 :
Pharaoh the king of Egypt offered Jacob , with family to go and live there for a better life.
Eventually Jacob and Joseph and the brothers died , then about 400 years passed with increasing Israelites.
They multiplied , filled the land , the Pharaoh killing them.
Israelites immigrants , now a threat to the King.
Bridge 1 :
Chat 1 :
And so Pharaoh attempts to destroy Israelites , the source of God's blessing.
He brutally enslaves them in forced labor and that all Israelite boys be drowned in the Nile River.
Verse 1 :
Pharaoh redefined good and evil , according to his own cruel interests.
Murder of innocent children has become good to him and Egypt became worse than Babylon.
Israel cries out for help against this , new Babylon and God surely responds.
An Israelite mother dropping her boy in a basket into the Nile River.
Choir2 :
He floats safely , right down into , Pharaoh's family , and is named Moses.
Verse 2 :
He becomes the man that God will use to defeat Pharaoh's evil.
Choir 3 :
Moses , God appears to him , and instructs him , to order Pharaoh , to release the Israelites.
Verse 3 :
God knows Pharaoh will resist and brings judgment on Egypt in the form of 5 plagues.
Bridge 2 :
Verse 4 :
Moses offers a chance for Pharaoh to humble himself and to let the Israelites go but he won't.
In response God sends the 2nd set of 5 plagues.
each one confronting Pharaoh and his gods.
Choir 4 :
God also hardens Pharaoh's heart after it was already grown hard by Pharaoh.
God knew that Pharaoh would resist his will , but still offered him all these chances.
Verse 5 :
Even Pharah's advisers thought he lost his mind and God sends the final plague.
God will kill the first born in Egypt with a final plague.
Choir 5 :
Unlike Pharaoh, God provides a means of escape through the blood of the Lamb.
On the night before Israel left Egypt, they sacrificed a lamb's blood on the door frame.
Verse 6 :
The houses covered with the blood of the Lamb were passed over, and the son spared.
So every year the Israelites celebrate God's justice and his mercy , called Passover.
Choir 6 :
Pharaoh , because of his pride and rebellion , loses his own son and finally let the Israelites go free.
The Israelite slaves make their exodus from Egypt, but right after are pursued again.
Bridge 3 :
Verse 7 :
Pharaoh gathers his army and chases after the Israelites for a final showdown.
As the Israelites pass through the waters of the sea safely, Pharaoh charges towards his own destruction.
Choir 7:
The Exodus story concludes with the first song of praise in the Bible , called the Song of the Sea.
It's about God's mission to confront evil and to redeem those enslaved to evil.
Verse 8 :
God is going to bring his people into the Promised Land and becomes king over his people.
The Israelites are trekking through the wilderness on their way to Mount Sinai.
Choir 8 :
Now they're hungry, they're thirsty, and they start criticizing Moses and God for even rescuing them.
They say they long for the good old days in Egypt but then God graciously provides food and water.
